Nixon Cordova

 

Biography

Nixon Cordova was born at Esmeraldas, Ecuador in 1966. He studied art at the Central University in Qutio, Ecuador and the National School Superior des Beux-Arts en Paris. During his studies he won several awards, including first prize for engraving at the Salon de Deciembre, Quito, 1st prize, Salon de Paris of the Alianza Francesa, Quito, 1st prize for engraving in an International competition for the Amhmed Asselahen, Algeria and Mention of Honor at the salon Luis A. Marinez in Ambato, Ecuador and the Salon de Julio, Guayaquil. He exhibited with other artists in Colombia, Ecuador, France and Algeria. His has created an alterpiece for the Church of the Merced in Esmeralds. Other public sculptures include a Mausoleum of Juan de Salinas in Sangolqui, a monument to Purity at Tiwintza Square, Macas, a Madonna 20 metres high, and a Monument to National Unity in Macas, Ecuador, 10 metres high.
